Largest Loser Week 2 Updates

What week 2 slump?  Week 2 was highlighted by another series of solid results. Mary Kay was on pass last week, so her first weigh in put her high up on the board by dropping 10.6 pounds!  Darrell posted a huge 5 pound weight loss but was overshadowed by Roxanne¡¦s 4.2 pounds (1.84%).  Anthony dropped 3.6 pounds along with a solid effort from Lisa with 2.4 pounds.

Overall, the group has already lost over 100 pounds already in 2 weeks and is down 2.91%

How does that compare?  Previous groups have averaged 2.85% through 2 weeks so Summer 2010 is definitely ahead of the game... But only time will tell if they can continue on this solid pace.

The highlight of week 2 was the return of Katie, our all time highest percentage of weight loss through 12 weeks, who lost 21.4% during the program, 64 pounds total, and has done a remarkable job of keeping it off.

Here is a quick recap of Katie's Pearls for Success:

1)  Count EVERY single calorie you consume: weight loss is a mathematical equation

Log everything you eat "without fail"  Take account of every bit you eat, "if you bite it, you write it¨

2) Invest in a food scale (Oxo is a good one)

Katie recommended the Oxo food scale from Bed Bath and Beyond.  She said she weighed just about everything she ate during the program.  Was it a 3 ounce pork chop, or a 4.5 ounce pork chop?  53g of Cereal or 45g?  Katie knew, and you should too!

3) Eat every 2 to 3 hours

Katie reports that one of the most important part of her success was "nutrient timing." She said to monitor not only what you are eating, but when you are eating it.

4) Wear the Watch

Katie thought that heart rate monitors was a way for "First Health to sell us more stuff." She reports that this is her only regret during the program.  She got a watch in week 3 and never looked back.  "It tells me if I'm not working hard enough, alerts me if I'm overdoing it, and is my best friend in the gym."

5) Nip bad habits/negative thoughts in the bud

There is 1 person that hears every word you say whether it's out loud or in your head - YOU!  Your thoughts are more real than you know, whether believe you will be successful or not...YOU ARE RIGHT!  Always stay positive, never second guess yourself, and don't waste time thinking about what you could be doing better, focus on what you're doing right!

6) Picture yourself in shape (what will you look like when you reach your ideal weight?

Katie had a picture of herself when she weighed 126 pounds.  She knew what that weight felt like and she visualized that feeling in her head EVERY time she went to the gym and every time she cooked her next meal.  She says, "athletes use visualization techniques to perform their best--and you should too!"
