Largest Loser Challengers roared into the half way point of the program with a 43# total weight loss this week. John has stretched out to a commanding lead with another huge week (4#) by reaching 30# of weight loss faster than any challenger we’ve had since our program’s inception. “He’s been surprising us every week” Dr. Nick says. “Just when we think he’s going to run out of gas he puts up another huge last chance workout and posts a big number.” When asked what his secret is, John reports that “I’ve just made this the most important thing in my life right now. Some other things have gone on hold for 12 weeks and I’m putting all of my focus and attention into working as hard as I can.”
Nutrition Notes:
Tom discussed Nutrient Timing this week which is his favorite topic in the whole program. “Once we’ve established general healthy eating habits, shifting our focus from what we’re eating to when we’re eating specific nutrients can be what takes us to the next level—whether we’re our goal is weight loss, fitness, or athletic performance.”
Training Notes:
Lots of variety this week. Courtney took her group in the pool, Tom held basketball practice, and Dr. Nick pulled busted out his timed cross fit workouts. For possibly the first time ever, Courtney may have held the least physically demanding workout this week. After 80 squats, 40 thrusters, and 20 pull-ups (that just round 1) Triple Threat was begging for the pool. However, Big to Buff might advise against that move as Courtney redefined the term “water aerobics.”
Half Way Update:
While big weight loss numbers typically make the press, our true interests lie in the numbers behind the numbers. Tom re-evaluated measurements this week and after our trainers reviewed the numbers they are even happier with the changes in body composition and waist/hip circumferences than they are with the weight loss numbers. “It’s great to see people doing it the right way” Courtney said. “People can lose 10 or 20 pounds with a crash diet, but this is so much different. They’re building a strong base of fitness and lifestyle habits and it’s showing up in their body comp numbers and will ultimately help them stick with it 6 months and even 6 years down the road.”
