I agree about the energy. I may not have lost a ton of weight yet, but I feel totally energized. I'm even getting a little hay-fever, and STILL feel great. Normally, I'd be grouchy and moping around the house sniffling, but today I'm wide awake and feel great!

I feel like it is almost too easy to eat right now...almost to the point where I feel like I may be doing something wrong. I constantly come up short for calories and usually carbs each day. I don't necessarily want or need to eat more, but sometimes I try and sneak an extra snack in for good merit. Come to think of it, I have had a ton of energy lately, too. I usually feel the need for coffee several times a day but I haven't at all in almost two weeks!! :) As for tonight, it's late and I still haven't done cardio for the day...I'm gonna try and do it now on the treadmill and maybe just go up and down our two flights of stairs for a bit. :)

Hope everyone got in a good strong last chance workout today. Kind of anxious about tomorrows weigh-in, haven't been on a scale (don't want to know at this point). How's everyone doing? We need feedback . . . can't have both caloric and verbal deprivation at the same time!

Happy Wednesday and good job to everyone so far in week 4. Quick Nutritional Reminder for today: 3 foods to prevent disease Walnuts: great source of omega-3 fats which are important in preventing cardiovascular disease. They also contain an antioxidant called ellagic acid which support the immune system, not to mention magnesium and copper, two minerals often deficient in the "western diet." Nutritionist Tip: 1 small handful 3 times a week as long as it fits into your sparkpeople numbers. Spinach: One of the most nutrient dense foods per calorie on the planet! Rich in lutein, an antioxdant that fights cancer, cardiovascular disease, and prevents macular degeneration. Also high in iron, calcium, folic acid, and a long list of vitamins and minerals that make it a staple for disease prevention. Nutritionist Tip: Eat it every day! For maximum protection, make a rainbow with red (tomatoes) orange (carrots) purple (cabbage) and yellow (yellow zucchini) Chili Peppers: A compound called capsaicin is the key to the power of peppers. This phytonutrient does everything from reducing cancer cell growth to preventing sinus infections and lowering cholesterol. Is that all you say? NO! It also speeds metabolism and can assist in weight loss! Nutritionist Tip: If you can handle the heat, try to include daily at either lunch or dinner. We will also eat fewer calories with a spicy meal than we would otherwise.

What amazes me is the amount of energy I feel. I thought I ate pretty well but obviously my system was overloaded trying to process either too much or over burden with poor quality foods. This is exactly the feeling I was hoping for in making changes. I'm never hungry and have found it easy to date. In fact I'm below what the nutritionist recommended for my caloric intake. Exercise is hard but enjoyable. It gives me a real sense of satisfaction when I've really pushed through a workout. It's only a few hours a week so for the next few months and considering the overall benefit it's time I got serious about my personal health.
